I am the contractor can i claim the gst component for the qbcc insurance i pay on behalf of client?

With regard to how you can claim the GST component for the QBCC insurance you've paid, it's best if you can create an account to track QBCC insurance amount through the Chart of Accounts. Here's how:

 

  1. Click on the Accounting tab.
  2. Click on Chart of Accounts.
  3. Click on New.
  4. Select the account and detail type, and enter a name.
  5. Click on Save.

With regard to what account type to use to track the insurance, I'd recommend contacting your accountant directly. That way, you can make sure you're tracking the figures on your books correctly.

 

And then, you can create a Product/Service through Settings and select Products and services for the insurance, and assign the account created above.
