I would like to see an option in the sales dashboard area of a trending line shown to indicate by quick glance which direction sales are travelling

I want your concern to be properly addressed. In order to do so, I may need a few more details about your desired option in the Sales tab so I can provide ways on how to achieve it.

For now, you may want to consider the Sales graph from your Home page. This graph displays your posting sales transactions. You can change the date range of the graph by clicking the drop-down arrow in the upper right hand corner of the graph. See sample screen shot below:
