A pleasure to have you here in the Community space, drumroll. Let me share some steps on how to manage excess invoice payments in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

To pay the invoice, you can create a Receive Payment transaction. Enter the full amount in the transaction, and any excess will become a credit to the customer or refund. You can also match this payment with your bank transaction.

Then, you can send statements to your customers to show them summaries of their invoices, payments, credits, and balances. When creating a Statement, select Balance Forward to display overpayment. This way, you'll find lists of invoices and payments displaying outstanding balances for a specific date range. Please refer to this article for the step-by-step guidance: Create and send customer statements in QuickBooks Online.
