Welcome to the Community space, Noel. I've got the steps for adding your VAT to your invoices.

Let's start by turning on tax tracking:

  1. Go to Taxes, and select Set up tax.
  2. Set up the tax agency details, then select Next.
  3. Follow the steps to finish the setup and select Ok.

Since QuickBooks Online automatically creates default tax rates for South Africa. You can create a new one by following the steps below.

  1. In the Tax Centre, select Add Tax.
  2. Choose which type of tax rate you want to set up.
  3. Enter the details of your tax rate. If you need help with this screen, select the help button (yellow question mark).
  4. Click Save.

Once done, you can now apply the tax to your invoices:

  1. On the product or service line(s) that you'd like to collect sales tax for, click to select the box under the Tax column.
  2. Select a tax rate from the dropdown menu.
  3. Click Save and close.

Additionally, you can run a report to check how much VAT you owe in QuickBooks.

The Community is always here to help you with your VAT queries. Have a good one.
