Let me share some information about inclusive and exclusive taxes in QuickBooks Online (QBO), Naomiclarke.

VAT Inclusive means that the price includes the value of the tax. In some jurisdictions, the displayed price of goods or services must be inclusive of VAT. Tax exclusive means that tax is added on top of the retail price at the time of the sale.

You'll have to choose which taxes applies when creating an invoice. If you need a recommendation, I'd suggest consulting your accountant about this one. They'll help you which one you need to apply in the invoice transaction. To make items on your invoices and sales receipts taxable, follow the steps below:

  1. On the product or service line(s) that you'd like to collect sales tax for, click to select the box under the VAT column.
  2. Select a tax rate from the dropdown menu.
  3. Click Save and close.

If you don't see a VAT column on your transaction, check to see that you've turned on the Tax feature. If you need to change the default tax rate selection, see the steps below:

  1. Choose the Gear icon in the upper right corner.
  2. Select Account and Settings.
  3. Choose the Advanced option.
  4. In the Accounting area, choose Inclusive of Tax in the Default tax rate selection field.
  5. Press Save and Done.
