I tried to create an invoice in the app, but a pop-up keeps saying tax code is missing. Even after I've added the tax code, the same pop-up still comes up

Hello there, hayden.

I understand how inconvenient it can be to have problems creating an invoice in the QuickBooks Online Mobile App. Allow me to help so you can get back to business.

I have checked and confirmed that no other users have reported the same issue when creating invoices in the QuickBooks Online (QBO) Mobile App. However, since you've mentioned that the error message about the tax code persists even after you attempted to add the tax code, we can perform some troubleshooting steps to resolve this.

Let's begin by clearing the app's data on your mobile device.

If you're using an iOS device:

  1. In your QBO mobile app, select the Gear icon.
  2. Choose the Refresh Data menu.
  3. Tap Yes.

If you're using an Android device:

  1. Go to Settings and select Apps.
  2. Choose QuickBooks Online and click on Storage.
  3. Select Clear Data.

Once done, restart your phone and reopen the mobile app to check if you're able to create the invoice. If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall the QuickBooks Online app. This ensures that you are using the most recent version of the application.

I've also added this article as a future reference if you want to know how to personalise invoices and other sales forms: Customise invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Leave your follow-up questions or other concerns about invoices in the comment section below. I'll be here to check on your response and get back to you as soon as possible. Keep safe!

Hey Archie,

I still have the same issue after following all the steps provided and reinstalling the application on my device

Thanks for getting back to us and performing the troubleshooting steps shared by my colleague, hayden-vertexmas.

Usually, clearing the QuickBooks Online (QBO) mobile app's data and uninstalling and reinstalling it can fix the missing tax code issue.

Since the issue persists, I recommend accessing your QBO account via supported browser. There, you can create invoices temporarily. I'll show you how:

  1. Go to our Sign in page.
  2. Type your credentials and then click Sign in.
  3. Choose the account you want to open.
  4. After that, select + New and choose Invoice. For the details steps, please see this article: Create Invoices.

Also, I suggest contacting our chat support team. They have tools to investigate the cause why you encountered an error message in the app version and provide additional solutions to fix the problem. I've included the steps to contact support below.

  1. In your QuickBooks Online company, select (?) Help.
  2. Select either tab to get started:
    • Assistant: Get quick, personalised answers. Select a suggested option, or type a question or topic you need help with. If you decide you need further help, you can still chat to a human.
    • Search: Type a question, keyword or topic for QuickBooks Online self-help content or select Contact Us, type a question and Continue. Choose a way to connect with us:
      • Start a chat with a QuickBooks support expert online.
      • Ask the community to get help from businesses like yours.

I appreciate your patience as we work through this. If you have any other concerns or questions about managing your sales transactions, please don't hesitate to add a comment below. I'll be glad to help you out.
