Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I can share some details about how you can limit sales or inventory transfers in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

You'll want to utilize the alerts feature whenever you have low or out-of-stock. This feature will enable you to track your products’ quantity on hand. You can limit or choose the number of items when are you going to be notified when the stocks are low. Let's start by turning on the inventory tracking option.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Account and settings.
  2. Select Sales.
  3. Click the Edit icon in the Products and services section.
  4. Switch on Show Product/Service column on sales forms.
  5. Turn on both Track quantity and price/rate and Track inventory quantity on hand.
  6. Select Save and then Done.

Now, I'll help you set up your product reorder points to let you know what’s running low and what’s out of stock.

If you have new products, you can enter reorder points when you add what you sell in QuickBooks. However, If you have saved products that don’t have reorder points, edit those products to add. See the steps below:

  1. Go to the Gear icon or the Sales menu and select Products & services.
  2. Find the product you want to have a reorder point.
  3. Click Edit in the Action column.
  4. From the Reorder point field, add the threshold when you should reorder more stock.
  5. Then select Save and close.
