Can I edit the currency of a customer that hasn't any transactions recorded yet? If so, how?

Welcome to the Community, Richard! You can change the currency for a customer who hasn't recorded any transactions yet, and I’m here to walk you through every step of the way.

Regarding your duplicate customers, you can merge their profiles. This deletes one profile and moves their existing data into the profile you want to keep. Follow these steps:

1. Navigate to the Sales menu and choose Customers.

2. Select and open the customer profile you don't want to keep.

3. Click on the Edit button.

4. Under the Customer display name field, type in the name of the duplicate customer profile you want to retain. The names need to match.

5. Hit Save.

6. When prompted to merge the customers, select Yes.

To change the currency for an imported customer, you'll need to enable the Multicurrency option first. This feature is available for QuickBooks Online (QBO) Essentials, Plus, and Advanced users. If you're a Simple Start user, you might want to consider upgrading your subscription plan.

Once the option is turned on, make the existing customer profile inactive. Then, add the customer again and assign the currency they use for payment. Doing this will let you record new transactions with them in their currency.

Here's how:

1. Navigate to the Sales menu and choose Customers.

2. Select the customer's name to open their profile.

3. Click the dropdown next to Edit.

4. Choose Make inactive, then select Yes, make inactive to confirm.

5. To add the customer again, head to Customers & leads and select Customers.

6. Click New customer.

7. At the top of the window, choose the customer's Currency from the dropdown.

8. Complete the required details.

9. Hit Save.
