I understand that managing the financial aspects of NGOs is crucial, particularly when it comes to tracking donations accurately. I'll share some valuable tips to help handle them.

QuickBooks Online provides a set of predefined account types that cover a wide range of common accounting needs. When setting up the Chart of Accounts, you can choose from various default categories to classify your transactions and provide structure to your financial records.

Note that the option to edit them or add a new one is currently unavailable. However, we can still track donations using the available account types.

Usually, when you receive in-kind contributions such as services or assets, you can use Income for the account type. Then, set Non-Profit Income as the detail type. On the other hand, if you're the one donating, utilize Expenses and then choose Charitable contribution from the drop-down menu.

To ensure compliance, I encourage consulting your accountant. They can offer expert advice based on your organization's unique circumstances, goals, and industry requirements.
