Can you help with this inventory start date issue?

I can't change my inventory start date because it can't be before the last transaction, but I can't change the bill date with this product because it has to be after the inventory start date. So what I am meant to do? As a result I can't sync all my orders from bigcommerce because the order date (pre-orders) are before the inventory start date. Also in the bill it has the cost in USD, but then in the products list I have to manually enter the cost for every single product but not in USD. This inventory module is just a mess. Please help.

I'd be delighted to help you with your inventory start date, Matthew.

What we can do is to delete those incorrect sync data and adjust the inventory item's starting value and edit the start date to a later date of your bill. This way, you can seamlessly sync your orders from BigCommerce. Let me show you how.

  1. Go to the Expenses menu in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.
  2. Select the Expenses tab.
  3. Hover to the bill you'll need to delete and select Delete under the ACTION drop-down column.
  4. Do the same process for your other bills.

Then to adjust the start date:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, and select Products and Services.
  2. Hover to the inventory item you want to modify and click the Edit button under the ACTION column.
  3. On the Quantity on hand section, select the Starting value link.
  4. From the pop-up window, select Got it.
  5. In the Inventory Starting Value page, change the date under As of date field.
  6. Then click Save and close once you're done.

Then recreate the bill using the correct date. Another way is to edit the bill date from the BogCommerce and re-sync them to QBO.

Additionally, you might want to turn on the Multicurrency feature in QBO. This way, it'll automatically calculate the cost of your bill from BigCommerce based on your home currency. You can also check out this article for more details about this: Learn about Multicurrency in QuickBooks Online.

@JasroV thanks for your reply. However, the issue I am having is that the orders from BigCommerce won't sync because the order date is before the starting date, and I cannot move the starting date any earlier than it currently is. My thinking now is to delete all products if possible, and then re-upload them as non-inventory items. But then I'm not sure how this will impact the bills that have already been uploaded?

Let’s get this resolved, Matthew.

Deleting all your products in QuickBooks Online can make your records inaccurate. To update your inventory start date, you can delete the uploaded bills in the program. Before that, make sure to disable the sync functionality with your BigCommerce. Then, you can follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Select the Expenses menu in your left navigation pane, then go to the Expenses tab.
  2. Click Filter.
  3. Select Bill in the Type dropdown.
  4. Filter the date, then press Apply.
  5. Select each transaction, then click Delete under the Action column.

After the process, you can follow the instructions provided by JasroV to change your inventory start date. Then, you can resync your BigCommerce data with QuickBooks.
