I'm aware of the reason why invoices are marked as paid immediately after creation, Tamika1. I'll be happy to discuss this matter with you.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), there's a handy automated feature that applies credits to the next invoice you create for the same customer. If this feature is turned on, your new invoices will be showing as paid immediately.

If you want to turn this feature off, just follow these steps:

  1. On your QuickBooks Online account, go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Account and Settings.
  3. In the left menu, choose Advanced.
  4. Click the Pencil icon in the Automation row.
  5. Uncheck the Automatically Apply credits box.
  6. Click Save, then Done.

Please refer to the screenshot provided below for your visual reference.

And that's it! With these changes, your credits or unpaid payments won't automatically apply to new invoices.
