Greetings, @nzi.

When creating an account in your chart of accounts, the ability to add a customized detail type is not available. The system automatically selects the most appropriate detail type for the respective account. Just make sure to choose the accurate Account Type, then, Quickbooks will categorize it with the appropriate detail type.

Also, you can edit the account type and detail type of your account in the chart of accounts. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu.
  2. Choose the Chart of Accounts tab.
  3. Locate the account you want to modify.
  4. From the Actions column, click the drop-down arrow next to the View register link.
  5. Select Edit.
  6. In the Account window, choose the Detail Type from the drop-down list.
  7. Click Save and Close.
