Hello, r-allen-rocketsh.

Setting up a new account in your Chart of Accounts is easy. I'd be more than happy to show you the steps below.

We'll simply want to go to your Chart of Accounts page, then add the new account from here. Here are the full steps:

  1. Go to Bookkeeping, then select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Click the New button.
  3. Set the Account and Detail Types for your new account.
  4. Enter the name.
  5. Add an opening balance if needed.
  6. Once done, click Save and Close.

I should also point out that the left panel menu may be different in your end. This depends if you're in Business or Accountant view.

If you're in Accountant view, click on Accounting, then go to the Chart of Accounts tab.

I'd also like to that that if you have a spreadsheet of your accounts, we do have the ability to import it to QuickBooks. This article highlights the details and steps: Import your chart of accounts to QuickBooks Online.

Need more information about adding accounts in your Chart of Accounts? I'll share this article with you: Add an account to your chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online.

I'm sure you'll have some entries you need to enter after adding the new accounts. If you need to run the Balance Sheet or any other financial reports, I'll add these articles should you need help in the future:

Drop by and ask around if you have other concerns regarding your Chart of Accounts list. Need help entering your records? Or perhaps do you need help in adding your bank entries? Add the details to your reply and I'll be sure to help you out again.
