Hi there. I'm glad to help you add the opening balance for the partner's withdrawal account in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

To start, we have to create an equity account for the partner's withdrawal account. Here's how:

  1. Navigate to the Gear icon and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Then, click New.
  3. Select Equity under Account Type and choose the appropriate Detail Type.
  4. Next, enter the account's name. Example: Partners' withdrawal account.
  5. Once done, select Save and Close.

For reference, read this article: Add an account to your chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online.

After that, you can create a journal entry to enter the opening balance for the partner's withdrawal account. To ensure you handle the movement of the amount accurately, I recommend asking guidance to your accountant. They can guide you throughout the process so the balance appears on the debit side. If you don't have one, you can use our Find an Accountant tool to look for one near your area.

Once everything is fine, you can use this resource as a guide in making sure your QBO account's balances match your real-life bank account: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

If you have any other concerns managing your accounts balances. Have a good day ahead and stay safe.
