Question

I am trying to add an invoice after the date of products being tracked and I can't. But I also can't add it after the last transaction date. So it is impossible to add!

I literally am starting to hate using QBO. It is developed in a way that only works if you get everything perfect. I have started tracking inventory but now I can't add the invoice with the products because it says I need to make the date after the transaction date. But then it also won't let me make the date after the last inventory transaction (even though this isn't something I want to do). So it appears I need to delete all my sales, then all the items, then add the items back, then the invoices, and then resync all my sales. is there an easier way of doing this?

Hi there, @matthew-kapes-co.

Thank you for the quick response.

I can provide you with some information so that you may effectively record and save your transactions in QuickBooks.

The prompt appears because the date of the transaction you're trying to record is after the inventory item's start date.

Here's how to get rid of the prompt:

1.     Click the Gear icon (⚙).
2.     Choose Products and Services.
3.     Look for the inventory item.
4.     Click the Edit button.
5.     On the Quantity on hand, select Starting value.
6.     Click the Got it button.
7.     Change the date under As of date.
8.     Hit Save and close.

Furthermore, I’ve provided you with this article that will help you Set up and track your inventory in QuickBooks Online.

That should suffice. Please let me know how it goes for you. I'd be happy to help you. Happy holiday!
