Question

I am trying to set up my invoice template and cannot find any option to add my companies VAT Reg number in the header. Has anyone else had this problem and fixed it?

Adding your company's VAT Reg Number in your invoice template is easy in QuickBooks Online (QBO), and I'm here to show you how, @accounts-valuedi.

Your VAT Reg Number will automatically populate on your invoice's header section once you set up your VAT in QBO and your transaction uses VAT code. To set up VAT or make sure you already have your VAT Registration No entered, here's how:

  1. Go to the VAT/Tax menu.
  2. Click the Edit VAT drop-down then select Edit settings.
  3. Make necessary update then enter the VAT Registration No.
  4. Select Save.

I've attached screenshots below for your reference.

In case you'll set up your VAT for the first time, please see this link for the detailed instructions: Set up tax.

After that, you need to select the Tax/VAT option on your invoice template to make sure your VAT column appears. Just open your invoice template from the Custom form style page and open the Content tab. Please see the attached file for your reference.

To help you personalise your invoice template and add specific info to your sales forms, you can go through this article: Customise invoices in QuickBooks Online. It also includes answers to the most frequently asked questions about the said topic.
