Hello there, @greg11. I'll be glad to help you in writing off an account as a bad debt in QuickBooks.

 

Before I proceed with any troubleshooting steps, could you please let me know if you have encountered any error messages while writing off an account as a bad debt? Additionally, it would be helpful if you could attach a screenshot of your concern, as it will assist us in understanding the issue and providing an accurate resolution.

 

There are times when the stored cache in your browser becomes corrupted causing connection errors in the program. You may start by opening your QuickBooks account using a private window. Here are the keyboard shortcuts to launch the window:

 

  • Mozilla Firefox (CTRL + SHIFT + P)
  • Microsoft Edge (CTRL + SHIFT + P)
  • Google Chrome (CTRL +SHIFT + N) 
  • Safari (⌘ + SHIFT + N)

 

Once you're in, head back to the Chart of Accounts menu and check if your can write off an account as bad debt. If it's now working well, you'll have to go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to delete the accumulated junk files. Alternatively, you can switch to other supported browsers.
