I am trying to create an invoice for a client and within that invoice is a product/service that has been made inactive. I need put the old product and service on the invoice but I get an error of "Product/Service assigned to this transaction has been deleted. Before you can modify the transaction you must restore it". However I don't want to restore the old product/service because we no longer use it that's why its been made inactive. Is there a way for me to still invoice the client with the old product/services?

Hello there, @BayCap.

I'll gladly share some insights about creating invoices with inactive products or services in QuickBooks Online (QBO). I'll also guide you in managing your item list accordingly.

When products or services are inactive in QBO, they won't show up on sales forms, lists, or financial reports. With this, there's no way for you to invoice your client with the old or deleted (inactivated) items.

In case you opt to restore or reactive your products or services so you can modify your sales transaction or invoice your client, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings ⚙, then select Products and services.
  2. Select the Filter icon.
  3. From the Status ▼ dropdown menu, select All.
  4. Select Apply.
  5. Find the product or service that you want to reactivate.
  6. In the Action column, select Make active.

You can read this article for more details: Remove or merge a product or service.

Also, you may want to check out this article as your reference to guide you in keeping your account organised by grouping your products and services in QBO: Group your products and services into different categories.

Let me know if you have other invoicing concerns or questions about managing your products and services list in QBO. I'm always ready to help. Take care, and have a great day, @BayCap.
