Transfer between two accounts in foreign currency: it does not allow to Record as a transfer, saying it's not possible to do where both accounts are in foreign currency. Is there a way how to correctly record such transfer for example from GBP to USD own accounts?

Let's make sure you'll be able to correctly record and transfer in different currencies, Accounts.

When dealing with exchange rates and foreign currencies is quick and easy in QuickBooks Online (QBO). You'll only have to make sure to set up the multicurrency feature so you'll be able to transfer from GBD to USD.

Home currency is what your business uses for its transactional based on where your business is located. Income and expense accounts always use your home currency.

Normally, when you set up QuickBooks, it automatically sets your home currency. You'll have the option to change your home currency by following the steps below:

  1. Go to Settings ⚙ and then Account and settings.
  2. Select Advanced.
  3. In the Currency section, go to Edit ✎.
  4. From the Home Currency ▼ dropdown, choose your currency.
  5. Turn on the Multicurrency switch and confirm that you understand that you can't undo this option.
  6. Hit Save, then Done.

For more information on how you can add and delete currencies and add an account that uses foreign currency, refer to this article: Set Up And Use Multicurrency In QuickBooks Online.

After setting up, you'll need to create a clearing account with your other currency. This way, you can transfer and match your different currencies in QBO.

Here's how:

  1. Choose Accounting and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Click on New.
  3. Pick Bank under the Account Type drop-down.
  4. Select the Detail Type.
  5. Enter Clearing Account in the Name field.
  6. Choose your home currency under the Currency drop-down.
  7. Tap Save and Close.

Then, transfer funds between accounts

Furthermore, QuickBooks offers tons of information about your business through different reports. This also shows you the different currencies according to you've set them up in your QBO account. Check out this article for your guide: Customise Reports In QuickBooks Online.
