    Hi there, soisuite.

I’m here to help you with creating an external backup of your QuickBooks Online (QBO) database.

Firstly, external backups are available only with the QBO Advanced subscription. If you are using a different subscription, you might consider upgrading to access this feature.

If you are using QBO Advanced, here’s how you can create your backup manually:

    1. Sign in to your QBO Advanced company as an admin.
    2. Go to the Gear icon and select Back up company.
    3. Click Backup from the menu, then select New Manual Backup.
    4. Choose the company you want to back up.
    5. From the 'Backup Type' dropdown, select Full, Incremental, or Complete.
    6. Click Request Backup.

For an in-depth understanding of the steps outlined, I encourage you to take a look at this article, which provides a comprehensive guide and detailed explanations: Back up and restore your QuickBooks Online Advanced Company.

In the meantime, you can export your data from QBO and save it to your external hard drive. Here's how:

    1. Hover over the Gear icon and select Export data.
    2. On the Reports tab, set the desired date range.
    3. Choose the items you want from the Reports and Lists tabs by toggling the switches on or off.
    4. Select Export to Excel.

For further details on exporting data, you can refer to this article: Export reports, lists, and other data from QuickBooks Online
