When I edit the accounts in Chart of accounts, the changes are not saved, why ?

Thanks for posting in the Community, @r-szybiak-southp. I'll be glad to provide troubleshooting options so you can save the changes when editing your Chart of Accounts (COA) in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

 

Upon creating your company in QBO, the system generates default accounts depending on your selected business entity. It's important to note that we're unable to modify some of them. Here's an article to learn which ones you can edit, merge, or make active: Manage default and special accounts in your QuickBooks Online chart of accounts.

 

If you're editing a regular account, let's rule out the possibility of a browser issue. First, access your company file with a clean slate in an incognito window. Please refer to these keyboard shortcuts:

 

  • For Google Chrome browser: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Mozilla Firefox browser: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Safari browser: Command + Shift + N

 

Once resolved, go back to your original browser to clear its cache or utilize another compatible one. It's possible that there's a temporary issue with QBO or the window you're using.
