How do i record a refund from SARS ?

Thanks for reaching out to us, @annyvonnebaker. I'll be happy to outline the steps to record the refund you received from the South African Revenue Service (SARS) in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

To record the tax refund, deposit the amount into the bank and utilize the same account you used for paying the income tax. To do that:

1. Go to + New and select Bank Deposit.
2. In the Account dropdown, select the bank you want to deposit the money into.
3. In the Add funds to this deposit section, choose the same Expense account you used to pay for the income tax. 
4. Fill in the remaining fields as you see fit.
5. Click Save and Close.

Additionally, we recommend linking your bank to QBO so transactions will download and categorize into the appropriate accounts.
