Question

If I have a quote that has products from various suppliers, how do I create a purchase order from the quote for each supplier?

I set up my inventory with a preferred supplier, how do I split the items on a purchase order from a quote to the different suppliers, without having to go check who was listed as the preferred supplier on each inventory item and manually create a PO for every supplier?

Hello there, BellaEtsebeth. Let me share some details about creating a purchase order.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), we can't choose more than one supplier when making a purchase order. With that, creating POs from a quote from different suppliers is unavailable. We'll have to make individual orders for each of them.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the +New button.
  2. Under Suppliers, select Purchase order.
  3. Choose your supplier from the drop-down arrow.
  4. Enter the Product/ServiceDescriptionQTYRate, and Amount.
  5. Hit Save and close.

Furthermore, we can run the Product/Service List report and customize it with the product you want to see. Then, select Preferred Supplier in the small Gear icon. It will help you identify the supplier when creating a purchase order. I'll guide you on how to do it.

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Type Product/Service List report in the search bar.
  3. Click the Customise button.
  4. Select the Filter drop-down arrow.
  5. Put a checkmark beside Product/Service, then click the drop-down arrow to select the item.
  6. Hit Run report.
  7. Tap the small Gear icon beside the Export button.
  8. Place a checkmark beside Preferred Supplier.
