Question

How do I claim 67% business use of my car expenses when reviewing transactions? I was prev using self-employed QB and it was very easy to split into business/personal.

Thank you for using various QuickBooks products, @kerriecauvin-gma.

I'll guide you on how to claim the 67% car expense in your QuickBooks Online. This way, your books will be customized and precise.

You'll need to split the car transaction to categorize the 67% accordingly. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Accounting tab, then choose Chart of Accounts.
  2. Locate the bank and click Account History
  3. Select the transaction and click Edit
  4. Pick the other account and add the amount in the box. The amounts for each account should add up to the total amount of the transaction.
  5. Hit Save and close

For more details, check out this article: Enter a split transaction into the account history.
