I'm here to help you set up Chart of account in QuickBooks Online.

 

When you need to keep track of different kinds of transactions, you can add new accounts. This article will guide you to expand your chart of accounts: Add an account to your chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online. It contains a training video to guide you.

 

On the other hand, if you want to set up or count accounts in the Chart of Accounts, you can follow the outlined steps:

 

Go to Settings ⚙ and select Chart of Accounts.

  1. Go to +New to create a new account.
  2. In the Account Type ▼ dropdown, choose an account type.
  3. From the Detail Type ▼ dropdown, select the detail type that best fits the transactions you want to track. Learn more about detail types.
  4. Give your new account a name. Tip: Use the detail type description to create a name that describes what you're tracking.
  5. Enter a description.
  6. If this is a subaccount of an existing account, choose the Is sub-account and enter the parent account. Learn more about parent accounts and subaccounts.
  7. Let's check that your QuickBooks account matches your actual bank or credit card account now. Determine the start date for your financial tracking. Enter the account's balance and the as of date in the Balance column. If you want to start tracking right now, use today's date.
  8. Select Save and Close.
