You're right, Qualifitph. Let me provide information to help you properly record your transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

When you upload your bank transactions in QBO, you generally don’t need to manually input expenses like electricity and water if they are already included in your credit card transactions. Here’s how you can handle them:

Categorize Transactions: When you import your bank transactions, you can categorize each expense directly. For example, if your credit card statement includes a payment for electricity, you can categorize that transaction as a utility expense. Here's how you can do it:

  1. Go to Transactions and select Bank Transactions.
  2. Select the account you want to review.
  3. Click the For Review tab.
  • If the transaction says Add:
    1. Select Add if the suggested category is correct.
    2. Change the category by choosing one from the dropdown or adding a new one.
  • If the transaction already exists in QuickBooks, you may have the option to match or view multiple matches.

Avoid Double Entries: To prevent double entries, make sure you don’t manually enter the same expenses that are already included in your bank feed. If you manually enter an expense and import it from your bank, it will show up twice in your records.

Matching Transactions: QBO has a feature to match imported transactions with existing ones. If you have already entered an expense manually, QuickBooks will try to match the imported transaction with the existing one. This helps avoid duplicates.

In summary, you should categorize the expenses directly from the imported bank transactions and avoid manually entering them again to prevent double entries.
