I was trying to add a category under expenses and somehow it ended up under accounts payable. How do I fix it?

I'll show you how to delete an entry, turquoiseturtlec.

When adding an entry by mistake, we can remove it from the register. To guide you further, you can follow these steps.

  1. Go to the Accounting menu.
  2. Select the account where the entry was added. In your case, select Accounts Payable.
  3. Click  Account history.
  4. Click the entry to open it.
  5. Select More at the bottom and then Delete.
  6. Hit Yes to confirm.
  7.

We can also utilize the Advanced search feature to find the entry made by error.

  1. On the QuickBooks Home page, click the search icon.
  2. Click Advanced search.
  3. Select the correct details in every field.
  4. Hit Search to reflect the changes.
  5. Click More. Then, Delete.

Once done, you can now recreate the entry or add a category under the correct account.

Also, I'd suggest checking out these articles to learn how to manage your chart of accounts.
