I need to account for the sales of each seller separately, so I would like to assign every sales representative to a customer

Hello there.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), the ability to assign a sales rep to each customer is unavailable. I can see how much of a difference it would make to your day-to-day business transactions and like you, I'm also anticipating this feature.

Since we want to help you get the best experience while using QuickBooks, I recommend sending your request for this feature to our Product Developers so they can consider adding it in future updates.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner.
  2. Select Feedback under Profile.
  3. Share your feedback.
  4. Click Next to submit.

While this feature is unavailable, I have a workaround that you can utilize. In QBO, we have the Class tracking feature that allows us to get specific insights into sales or profitability for each segment of our business. In this case, we can assign a sales rep through Class tracking. Note that we'll be assigning this in every Invoice or Sales receipt that we're going to create. I'd be pleased to narrow down the steps how:

First, let's turn on the feature. Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon.
  2. Select Account and settings.
  3. Go to the Advanced tab.
  4. Click the Pencil icon in the Categories section.
  5. Turn on Track classes.
  6. Select how you want to assign the class. It's either One to entire transaction or One to each row in transaction.
  7. Click Save, then Done.

Next, you can create a sales rep or class. Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon, then go to All lists.
  2. Select Classes.
  3. Click New, then enter the sales rep's name.
  4. Click Save.

Now when creating an Invoice or Sales receipt, we have to input the sales rep that we created:

Here's an article that you can refer to for more information about class tracking: Track your transactions by class.
