I was preparing returns and I selected a month to file but now I can't select the previous month and I have tax payables still due. How can I prepare previous returns?

I'm here to share information about filing tax returns in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

When preparing returns in QBO, the system enter the Start date. You can Monthly, Quarterly, Half-yearly, and Yearly in the Accounting period drop-down. Once you already filed your return, the status will automatically change to Mark as filed.

You can unfile it to make ncessary changes or adjuments for the previous months. This can be done by contacting our Support team and provide the following information:

1. QuickBooks Online Company ID.
2. Which tax filing period you wish to unfile.

Here's how to reach them:

1. In QBO, click the Help menu in the upper-right hand corner.
2. Type in "Talk to a human", then press Enter.
3. Look for I still need a human and click on it.
4. Click Contact Us.
5. Select between Send a message, Schedule an appointment, or Get a callback.

The unfiling process is carried out by the back-end team. During this period, all users must remain signed out. Just click the Gear icon and select Sign out. Once the tax return has been successfully unfiled, our support team will contact you.
