Thank you for reaching out to us, Melinda. Please know we understand the urgency of this matter and that this isn't the experience we'd want you to have when using QuickBooks. I'd gladly provide guidelines to help you rectify the issue of being unable to search suppliers' names using the Search bar (magnifying glass) in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

We have received reports indicating that certain users are experiencing difficulties when searching a supplier's name using a search bar. We are currently investigating these reports to identify the root cause and implement a solution to address these issues. To be added to the list of affected users, we recommend contacting our Live Support team.

Here's how:

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Click Help (?).
  3. To get started, select one of the tabs:
  • Assistant: Get quick, personalized answers by selecting a suggestion or typing a question. Talk to a human for further help.
  • Search: Search the QuickBooks Online knowledge base directly, or select Contact Us and choose a way to connect with us:
    • Start a chat with a support expert.
    • Get a callback from the next available expert.

Please ensure to review their support hours to know when agents are available. This way, you can contact them at a time that is convenient for you.

On the other hand, you can search the supplier through the Advance search tab, Expenses tab, or Supplier contact list report.

I'll add this page to see articles relevant to this thread, like recording advance payment, handling credits, and refunds for a supplier: Manage Suppliers and Expenses.

Feel free to visit this article about handling customer transactions and customizing sales reports.

If you have further QuickBooks-related concerns, feel free to post them here in the forum. I'm happy to answer them for you. Have a good one!
