Question

Is there a way to pass a QB file on to others? We are selling one of our businesses and need to provide all details to new buyer.

Thanks for dropping by here in the Community,@paul-schreiner.

Currently, the option to pass the QuickBook file directly to a different account is unavailable. As a workaround, you can export reports and other information manually to provide them to the new owner.

To export your report or list:

  1. Select the Gear ⚙ icon, then Export Data.
  2. Go to the Reports or Lists tab.
  3. Choose the information you want to export.
  4. Hit the Export to Excel option.

Please note that there are specific transactions you can import within QuickBooks. Since there's no direct way to migrate transactions, I recommend checking for a third-party application.

Some integrated apps/tools offer migration services. To check:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks account.
  2. On the left navigation bar, click Apps.
  3. Use the search bar to find apps.

For additional information about the exporting process like exporting non-posting transactions, as well as some frequently asked questions about importing data to QuickBooks Online, I recommend the following articles:

Leave a comment below if you have other questions regarding migrating the data. The Community and I will be around to help you.

@paul-schreiner

You may transfer the role of your Master Admin to the new owner. Otherwise you may utilize a 3rd party migration tool.
