I've got you covered, @dan-sparkselectr.

May I know the specific bank you're having problems with? If you're receiving a specific error message, that information can help me find you a timely solution. Also, I suggest reaching out to your bank to check if they having any maintenance updates.

In the meantime, let's access your QuickBooks Online (QBO) using a private browser and update your bank. Private mode prevents storing cache and cookies that might cause problems when running websites.

The following are the shortcut keys you can use:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

Once signed in, manually update your bank again. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking/Transactions menu and select Banking.
  2. Click Update.
  3. If prompted, enter your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). Then hit Continue update.

For more details, see this article: Download the most recent bank and credit card transactions in QuickBooks Online.

If this works, let's clear the cache of your regular browser. It will remove the stored cache or cookies that might cause the problem and this also refreshes your browser's background processes. If you still can't update, use another supported browser. It could be that the one you're currently using has a temporary issue with QuickBooks.

You can also add your bank transactions manually using a CSV file. For the detailed steps, please head to the manual upload transactions page at this link.

Then, here's how to categorise and match those downloaded transactions in QBO

Please know that you can always post here if you have further concerns about updating your bank to QBO. I'll be around whenever you need further assistance. Take care always.
