What is the quickest way to process purchases made with a debit card (no "bill" to pay)

You've come to right place to get the answer you're looking for, @kgebanks.

 

There are three options to enter your purchases: BillCheque, and Expense. For transactions that you need to pay later, use Bill. You can use Cheque or Expense for expenses you pay immediately or have already paid. 

 

If you paid for something that doesn't have a bill in QuickBooks, record an expense. Here's how:

  1. Go to the + New menu and select Expense.
  2. In the Payee field, select the supplier. If the transaction covers multiple petty cash expenses, leave this field empty.
  3. From the Payment account drop-down, select the account you used to make the payment.
  4. In the Payment date field, enter the date for the expense.
  5. In the Payment method field, select how you paid for the expense.
  6. Enter a note in the Ref no. field to identify which payment it is.
  7. In the Category details column, select the Expense account to use.
  8. In the Amount column, enter the payment amount.
  9. Select Save and Close.

 

If you're debit card is connected to online banking, you can match your purchases with the downloaded transactions.
