Question

How can I be removed from the book of a client I no longer have contact with? I was added as user instead of advisor.

Ideally I'd like it resolved over email as I don't have time to sit on phone or chat with QB support.

Hi Maryanne,

Thanks for posting in the Community!

Only the master/primary admin of the QuickBooks Online file is able to remove users on file. Here's how to delete a user in QBO:

  1. Click on Settings icon.
  2. Click on Manage users.
  3. Select the ellipsis icon on the user to delete.
  4. Click on Delete and select Delete user.

However, if you can still view and access the client's file through your Clients tab you can use the make inactive option to transfer billing to client.

Here's how to:

  1. Log in to your accountant file.
  2. Click on Clients tab.
  3. Locate the client's company name from the list and click on the drop down arrow next to Edit client.
  4. Click on Make Inactive.
  5. Confirm by clicking again Make inactive.
