How to I fix incorrect account balances on balance sheet

If your total account balances don't match your Balance Sheet, there are steps we can take to identify the transactions causing the issue. I'd gladly walk you through the detailed steps to address incorrect account balances on the Balance Sheet.

To begin with, let’s generate the Balance Sheet Summary report and identify the date when the balance went out of sync. Here's how:

1. Go to the Reports menu.
2. In the Search field, look for Balance Sheet Summary and select it.
3. Under the Accounting method, choose Cash.
4. In the Columns section, from the Display columns by dropdown, select Fiscal Years or Calendar Years.
5. Click Save Customisation.
6. Compare your total assets to total liabilities & equity. Find when your balance sheet goes out of balance.

Once you identify the year, use the same process to narrow down to the specific date.

1. Repeat steps 1 through 6 above. This time, from the Display columns by dropdown, select Month.
2. After you find the month, follow steps 1 through 6 again. Now, select Week.
3. And finally, once you find the week, repeat the steps. This time, choose Day.
4. Now that you have identified the date when your report went out of balance, proceed to step 3.
