I need to upgrade to Plus, but I’m in the trail period still so it doesn’t let me. Anyone know how to get around this?

You can upgrade your QuickBooks Online subscription to Plus as long as your free trial is still active. Let me guide you on how to upgrade your subscription. 

1. Sign in your QuickBooks Online account as a primary admin.
2. Go to Gear icon and select Account and Settings.
3. Select Billing and Subscription. 
4. Make sure your payment info is up-to-date.
5. In the QuickBooks Online section, select Upgrade your plan.
6. Review the available plans and then select Choose plan.
7. Follow the on-screen steps to upgrade your plan.

Once done, you'll be able to access and use the features available in QuickBooks Online Plus.

Make sure you are login as Primary Admin. Keep in mind, the discounted rate is not applicable when you purchase your trial account.
