Hi paulak1,

There are multiple reports we need to check to verify if the PAYW amount is correct or not. Let's check your PAYG Withholding and payroll journals making sure the amount matches.

Check the employees pay run making sure it has been exported to QuickBooks Online:

  1. Click on the Employees tab.
  2. Click on the Pay Runs tab, and check each pay run has been exported to QuickBooks.
  3. Check also the PAYG amount that the IAS should have is the same.

Another area to check is the payroll journals in your chart of accounts and make sure there are tax codes applied;

  1. Click on the Accounting tab.
  2. Click on Chart of accounts.
  3. Locate PAYG Liability account.
  4. Check if previous journals have been exported, and check if the current IAS is correct or not.

I'd recommend also checking the following reports to crossmatch the amount:

  • Check the PAYG Summary report and Transaction Detail by Tax Code. If these reports are the same then that is the right amount.
  • Go to PAYG Amendments Report. Check if the difference in Prepare BAS and in PAYG Summary is coming from amendments.
  • If no amendments, please run the PAYG Witholding Payable account in the Chart of accounts. Check if there's a payment created on this month/period. If none, please check if how many journals showing for this month/period and compare it to the Transaction Detail by Tax Code.
  • Also please check the Tax settings in the GST center to make sure the PAYGW frequency is correct.
  • Check the Employees tab and run Detailed Activity Report and how much the PAYGW should be.

If you've checked the above and are still unable to figure out the amount. I'd recommend checking with an accountant to further help you. That way, you can make sure your books balanced.
