Hi,

I have been using Quickbooks Pro2016 without support and have just received the following warning

Access to QB desktop will be permanently terminated in May 2024.

Does this mean I wont be able to access my data? I don't need the online support, updates etc. I also wasn't aware that i wouldn't be able to access anything and it doesn't give me very long to find another solution. QB online isn't a solution as I have 70 companies.

Thanks for your help with this

It seems they just sent this notification today to "surprise" users. One of our clients just contacted us about this email. We have asked them to create backup files every day starting next week. I'm not sure yet what method they will use to block our ability opening files locally. We will have to wait until June 1.

Hi

I received this message yesterday 13/5/24

As a precaution I have set my security software to block QB sending or receiving internet connection. I tried using setting in  QB I have no internet connection. That failed. no update error of preventing to send emails. Hope it works.

Any advice appreciated

Yes. I just got the message as well. I don't use online VAT filing so don't give a stuff about MTD compliance. And we have a legal requirement to keep transactions for 7 years. How do we do this if data cannot be migrated to a new system? I also use old data to predict new business.

Hello all, thanks for reaching out to the QuickBooks Community

We appreciate you sharing your sentiments on the recent communication that was sent to users regarding the sunset of QuickBooks Desktop.

For clarification, QuickBooks Desktop was discontinued in the UK in June 2023, but there are ex-subscribed users who are still able to use the software. From May, access will no longer be possible on subscribed versions QBDT 2016 and above, though we are urging all users to migrate to another software solution before this date.

To learn more, please see here. If you are looking to migrate to QuickBooks Online and would like to discuss your options, please speak to one of our experts on 0808 2584 476. For any other queries, please get back in touch and we'll be happy to help.

Thanks. Cloud systems don't work for people who don't always have internet access! And I prefer my full featured, obsolete software to a stripped down subscription m odel that only does what you think I ought to need.

I think it is totally unnecessary for Intuit to disable our desktop versions  which we have all paid for by the way . I started using online about 1 year ago when they started to notify that desktop would be discontinued but  because of all the online problems I use my desktop as a backup. I also have a requirement to keep customer info for 5 years so this latest selfish decision by the bunch who are running Intuit at the moment is very bad for me. Why can't they just leave our desktop versions alone ? until they just stop working.

I've read the thread, and I can see how the QuickBooks Desktop discontinuation affects everybody, SimonP1.

After May 31, 2023, access to add-on services will be discontinued for QuickBooks Desktop for Windows 2020. This discontinuation applies to all versions of QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Premier, and Enterprise Solutions v20.

However, it's important to note that your product will continue to function as usual if you do not use any add-on services in QuickBooks Desktop 2020. The core functionalities of QuickBooks Desktop will remain intact, allowing you to manage your finances and perform basic tasks.

You can refer to these articles for more information about the discontinuation of the QBDT UK version:

If you have any specific questions or concerns about this discontinuation or need assistance with any other QuickBooks-related matters, feel free to provide the details below, and I'll help you. You have a good one.

Hi Aileen

We are on QuickBooks Desktop Premier Accountant, purchased outright.  No subscriptions or account with QB.  We also do not make use of any internet-based services such as QuickBooks Payroll or QuickBooks Backup online.

We have noted your confirmation that we will be able to continue operating come 1 June 2024, however our IT has follow-up questions regarding OS updates etc.  Is there a QB data engineer that they can reach out to?

We have also been investigating migrating to QuickBooks online but, again we have questions regarding suitability, compatibility etc.  Is there a specialist consultant that we can deal with, live?

We are in South Africa and unable to reach advisors in the country.

Yes I received the same thing. Plus they call me 2+ a week telling me I have to purchase it in order to use it. They have it now where I can’t pull up my QB businesses. I feel like I paid for it when I first bought it. I hope I can find different product to purchase. They quoted me $1000 a year to use QB. That’s a crazy amount for my little business. Well any business. I do understand if they charge a fee for yearly updates. Maybe $50 year.

@Joda

Are you using QB Desktop Plus US version?

Do you need to run any add-ons? e.g QB Payroll
