The tutorials show there to be an account type Accounts Receivable (A/R) and Detail Type Accounts Receivable (A/R) and similarly for Accounts Payable.

These do not exist in the drop down lists in the chart of accounts.

Can someone please explain.

Hi JohnMike, your default accounts may instead appear in your Chart of Accounts as Creditors (for accounts payable) and Debtors (for accounts receivable). 🙂

Ok so I checked out this following a very confused online chat as far as I can tell the only detail type for debtor is debtor and the only detail type for creditor is creditor.

Does this mean the the detailed tutorial video on accounts payable is just total rubbish and done of this functionality actually exists on the current version of quickbooks

Hi JohnMike, the term accounts payable and debtors are used interchangeably based on different versions of QuickBooks; both refer to money owed to the business, so you can still follow the online guidance for these.
