Question

Accountant uploading my book keeping for my client

I'm a bookkeeper, and am due to stop working with one of my clients (A) in the next few months.

Their Accountant, who has access to my quickbooks subscription, has been in and started changing settings and information, without informing me.  They have also cancelled my subscription (again without informing me).  I assume this is with a view to taking over the book keeeping for my client A.

Where do I stand on this? Can I charge the Accountant for this?  (I modelled this account specifically tailored to suit Client A's needs, and paid the subscription as part of my own business costs.  Client A always maintained they would not contribute to the QB costs, as it was a 'tool of my trade')

Any advise?

Thanks for coming here with us, Pippins.

As part of the QuickBooks policy, the one who signed up for the subscription becomes the Master Admin of the account. Furthermore, this person has the ability to manage the account which includes having the authority to cancel it.

That being said, you'll want to initiate an agreement with your client and the accountant regarding the subscription fee of your QuickBooks Online account.

In case you'd like to update the admin of the account, you can have this article as your guide: Update the Master Admin of your account.

You can also read through this article to become familiar with the different user types in QuickBooks Online.
