Allow my accountant to access my QuickBooks Self-Employed

Hi.

I have an accountant who looks over my book keeping in order to make sure I am putting things in the correct areas and splitting home office and main office details.

I am unable to find a way to add an accountant in the UK version.  It says in the community posts it can be done on the Us version but not the UK.  Surely this is a needed feature so our accountants can also get access when needed rather than having to share our username and password with them.

Regards,

Lee

Did you ever get to allow the account access? I want to do the same ! Why is the helppages so frustratingly poor with the information it gives, it appears not to know its own system.

Hello Malcolm, Welcome to the Community.

If the subscription was taking out from ourselves you should have the option to invite an Accountant by going into the Cog>Accountant and then send an invite to your Accountant from there.

If you don't have this as an option you may have taking your subscription out from Apple store or Google play store ( Check subscriptions with your app providers) Don't Worry if you have, We will be able to migrate the billing from Google/Apple to ourselves so that you have the option to invite the Accountant. Thanks

Hi there, MrLeeUK.

Yes, you can add your accountant in the QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) UK edition. I'm here to help guide you through.

Here's how:

  1. Go to this webpage https://uk.selfemployed.intuit.com/ and sign in to your account.
  2. Click on the Gear icon.
  3. Under About you, choose Accountant.
  4. Enter the accountant's email address.
  5. Select Send invitation.

I've attached some screenshots to help you with the process.

Then, let your accountant know to accept your invitation.

Just in case, I'm linking an article for your future reference: Getting started for QBSE.

That should do it. Let me know how it goes by leaving a comment below. I'll be here to keep helping.

Hi @MrLeeUK,

Great day and thanks for providing us a screenshot. It seems like you're trying to add an accountant using a mobile apps.

Instead of using the apps, I'd suggest you use a web browser on your computer or launch a supported web browser on your phone. Then, try to check if the Accountant New is available under About you.

You can also refer to our help article: Invite an accountant in QuickBooks Self-Employed. It  will also guide you on how you can remove an accountant to your data in the future.

Feel free to message us again if you need anything else. We're always happy to attend your concern. Have a nice day ahead!

These instructions regarding inviting you accountant are absolute rubbish, they do not work. When my account receives his invite he is asked for a password to access my QuickBooks, which does not have.  He has even tried my personal password, which does not work.  There is nothing on QuickBooks that tells you anything about this, and I also cannot get any on a telephone call from QuickBooks who knows anything about QuickBooks self-employed, and how to add ones accountant. So all this crap about, 'it's all so easy, just click the cog wheel, etc...' is total bollocks!
