We're glad to see you again here in the forum, Vicky. Thank you for visiting the Community to inform us about your bank error connection and mileage issues.

I will share information and guidelines to help you get to business again. These are a few reasons you're having difficulties establishing a proper connection to your bank account:

  • It is possible that the bank is not a participating bank.
  • Your bank may be unable to link to all sorts of accounts (for example, personal vs. business).
  • The bank is currently undergoing system maintenance.
  • Some banks appear on our list more than once. You may want to double-check and select the proper one, or you may want to try every potential bank URL.

You'll want to contact your bank and inquire about any maintenance updates or establish a connection with QuickBooks. Remember to use the correct bank name when connecting the account if everything is in order with your bank. I will show you how:

  1. Go to Banking or Transactions on the left panel.
  2. Click Link account or Add account
  3. In the Connect your bank or credit card to bring in your transactions field, enter the URL listed for your bank.
  4. Follow the on-screen instruction to connect your account.

On the other hand, I'll also provide information on what to do if you encounter problems tracking your work trips on your Apple or Android device. Here's how to properly configure the QuickBooks mobile app and your device to log trips. We'll also teach you how to update the information on particular trips.

First, ensure auto-tracking is on in the QuickBooks mobile app:

On iOS (iPhone and iPad)

  1. Open the QuickBooks mobile app.
  2. Go to the menu ☰ icon.
  3. Select All.
  4. Choose Mileage.
  5. Click Auto-track your miles.
  6. Follow Allow location access on-screen instructions.

On an Android phone or tablet

  1. Open the QuickBooks mobile app.
  2. Click the menu ☰ icon.
  3. Choose Mileage.
  4. Turn on the Auto-tracking switch.
  5. Permit QuickBooks to track your location. It will vary depending on your Android Operating System.
  • For Android OS version 10 and below:
    • For location permissions, select Allow. If prompted, select Allow all the time.
    • If notified to allow access to your physical activity, click Allow.
  • For Android OS version 11 and above:
    • For location permissions, click While using the app, then select Ok (if prompted). Then choose Allow all the time.
    • If notified to allow access to your physical activity, select Allow.
