Bank and quickbooks not matching

My bank and quickbooks do not match rather than just reconcile I want to understand what I have done wrong I think - looking in the chart of accounts that i have added some payments rather than matched them with outstanding invoices. Could that be the cause and if that were the case is that why the column on chart of accounts with a tick and two square boxes would be empty in some cases?

Welcome to the Community - thank you for your question!

 

This would definitely create a difference between your bank balance and QuickBooks balance, as it will be accounting for your income twice within QuickBooks. That box would show as empty for those transactions if they hadn't been added from the bank feed, or reconciled, which could mean that they are duplicates of transactions you have already added from the bank.
