Question

Can anyone tell me why QuickBooks won't let me save CIS information in settings?

I have entered the UTR, PAYE ref, and accounts office ref but when I got to CIS under "taxes" it's still asking me to set up CIS so I just keep going round in loop. I know what I've entered is right because I literally copied and pasted it from HMRC.

Let's perform some troubleshooting steps so we can fix the issue, markeallanson.

Are you getting any errors when you go to the Taxes page or after you've entered the information?

There are times that your browser is full of frequently accessed page resources that cause some unusual behavior. To isolate this, you can log into your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account in a private window (incognito). Here's the keyboard shortcuts:

  • Press Ctrl Shift (Google Chrome).
  • Ctrl Shift (Firefox).
  • Control Option (Safari).

Once you're signed in, double-check if you're still asked to set up CIS tax. If everything is okay, return to your default browser clear the cache to speed up the loading process.

Every so often the cache becomes overwhelmed with older data which can potentially cause viewing and performance issues. Clearing it will refresh the system, and you'll be able to work with a clean slate. You can also switch to other supported browsers.  Please read this article for more information: Filing CIS in QuickBooks Online.

Also, QuickBooks offers a variety of reports that will provide the information you need. For more information, please take time to read this article: Run reports in QuickBooks Online.
