Each QuickBooks Online subscription supports one company. To track different departments within this, you can use our location tracking feature. This is used to categorize data from different locations, offices, regions, or outlets of the same company and lets you see all the payments for one location and deposit them as a group. To turn this on, head to the Cog > Account & settings > Advanced > Categories > Tick the checkbox to track locations > Done. You can then add different locations (departments) by clicking the Cog > All lists > Locations > New. Once added, you'll be able to specify the location when entering transactions and can access location-specific reports, such as Profit and Loss by Location (type 'location' in the search bar of your Reports page to view).

 

Please note, this is only available in QuickBooks Online Plus and Advanced. If you're using a lower-tiered plan, you can upgrade your account today without losing any data.
