Hello there, Harry. I know how confusing and hard it must be if you're able to perform a task before but you're unable to do it already. No worries, I'm here to make it up to you by sharing some information and making sure that you'll be able to create a custom report in QuickBooks Online.

The ability to create a custom report is only available in QuickBooks Online (QBO) Advanced. This gives us the freedom to create personalized reports about our company's financial data.

You mentioned that you were able to create one before, I'd like to assume that you're using QBO Advanced. Since you no longer can't find the option to create a new custom report, I'd like to ask whether you downgrade your subscription. If yes, that's the reason why the option is no longer accessible as it's only available in the Advanced version. You would want to upgrade your subscription to QBO Advanced.

On the other hand, if your current subscription is QBO Advanced but you're unable to locate the button to create a custom report, we can perform some troubleshooting steps to isolate this.

First, let's log in to your account in a private browser and try to create a custom report. Private browsing prevents websites from using cookies and doesn't record any historical data. Here’s how to do the private browsing:

  • Safari: Control + Option + P
  • Google Chrome: Press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Firefox or Internet Explorer: Ctrl + Shift + P

If you're able to create a custom report by browsing privately, it's safe to say that it's being caused by the browser. This can be fixed by clearing your regular browser's cache and cookies to refresh it.

In the event it continues occurring while using incognito, you'll initially have to try switching to another browsing application.
Here's a list of supported browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Safari 11 or newer

Additionally, I'm pleased to include this article that'll help you memorize the current customization of your reports for your convenience as you don't have to repeat the memorization process again every time you run the same report: Memorise reports in QuickBooks Online.

Rest assured, we are committed to your success and are here to support you every step of the way.
