For some reason QB has duplicated my bank account, so it's showing 3 accounts (although they are the same one) meaning my total cash is incorrect. Can I delete the two accounts that it's duplicated? If I do will it delete all 3 accounts and could I then lose all my data?

Hello there, NW3.

I'm here to share details on how to handle duplicate accounts in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE). This way, you'll be able to manage your bank accounts and keep your total cash amount accurate.

The way your financial institutions communicate with our system can impact how we receive your data. You can log into your bank's website to check some information. If you only see your transaction once, then you may have your bank account connected twice or more.

Deleting a bank account in QBSE isn't recommended because it'll remove your data. Since your bank is connected thrice, you can hide the extra accounts to keep it updated.

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Bank accounts.
  3. Find the account(s) you want to hide.
  4. Toggle ON the Hide option.

Moreover, you can delete duplicate transactions and exclude extra ones in the Transactions menu. For the detailed steps, kindly refer to this article's Delete duplicate transactions and Exclude the extra transactions section: Handle duplicate transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

QBSE also has the multiple split feature. This allows you to split transactions into more than two Schedule C-categories. You can check out this article for the complete details: Split and Exclude Transactions. It has steps on how to perform the process both through the web and the app.

Please let me know if you have other concerns. I'm just around to help.
