I can see that the error INDIRECTTAX -10355 have caught you off guard, @Hazel7. I’m here to share some insights about submitting VAT in QuickBooks Online.

The submission cannot be made using QBO if it is non-MTD. This is because third-party XML submissions were no longer accepted by HMRC. In order to file it via QBO, you would either need to register for MTD or use the bridging tool on the HMRC website.

Since HMRC is responsible for the obligations and you’re experiencing issues that prevents payment from going through, we recommend trying it again later or on another day. You’ll want to visit this site to check with the HMRC if they’re having issues on their end: HM Revenue & Customs Status.

Feel free to check out these resources to learn more about submitting a VAT return in the program:

I've also added this link to help you manage your taxes in QBO: Tax for QuickBooks Online. It covers topics such as tax filing and payment, applying sales tax to transactions, and managing VAT rates.
