Exporting from QB Desktop to QB Self employed

Can anyone explain why, when I thought I was exporting data from my QB Desktop (2013) to my (recently purchased) QB Self- employed, it was sent, without any warning, to a new trial Quickbooks Online account for which, I presume, I will have to pay a further monthly fee.

Hi NickC6953, it's only possible to migrate from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online; QB Self-Employed uses single-entry bookkeeping and doesn't support VAT making the transfer of data unviable.
