Question

Gov.uk won’t connect to QuickBooks. I keep getting an error message saying it’s not a valid request. This means I can’t set-up QuickBooks properly. Please can you help.

Hello, @AmandaX.

Let me provide some information about the error and troubleshooting step to get this resolved.

I've checked our records, and I haven't seen any reports similar to this. Stocked cache files on your browser can seldom cause connection issues.

With this, I'd suggest performing primary troubleshooting steps to isolate the difficulty.

To start, please access your account via incognito. These browsers won't save any browsing histories.

Feel free to use these shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P

Once logged in, repeat the process in connecting the Gov.uk in QuickBooks Online to validate if it's already performing adequately. If you're able to do so, we'll have to go back to your usual browser and clear the cache to drop the junk files. Using other supported browsers is a good option also.

Once everything is good, you can now submit the form and enter the payments. For more information, check out these articles:

But if the issue persists, I'd recommend communicating with the Gov.uk support to verify if they have maintenance on their end.

Additionally, I've added some pages that might help you in handling your taxes, transactions, and other related topics.

Let me know in the comment section how the call goes or if you have follow-up questions. I'm glad to assist. Keep safe!
